Above the great ravine it clings

Tightly it grips the earth on its fringe

Hanging on to storms and the strongest of winds

Weathering the seasons at the edge of a cliff

On a mountainous rock or so it seems

They laugh at this fool, this fool on a hill

Or is it a mountainous rock, so it seems

For why? they say, will you grow those roots

On the edge of the earth at the ledge of a cliff

Or a mountainous rock so it seems

But proud is this tree for they do fail to see

That below may indeed be the greatest of fall

Little do they know, it stands tallest of ’em all…
