BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya (May 9)—Mayor Pepito Balgos has led the awarding of barangay (village) staff for guarding the boundaries of the town to combat the dreaded African swine fever (ASF).
Balgos expressed his thanks to the village staff for their tireless sacrifices in stopping more damage to the hog industry in the town due to the disease wreaking havoc on hog raisers.
He said thousands of pigs have been culled and had affected pig farmers in some municipalities in the province.
“But with the courage and unity of Bambang LGU officials led by the municipal agriculture office including officials and staff of 25 barangays, not a single case of ASF has been recorded in our town,” Balgos said.
