BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (June 16)—The Regional Development Council (RDC) – Infrastructure Committee recently endorsed the proposed Nueva Vizcaya – Nueva Ecija Alternate Road Project for funding.
According to Governor Carlos Padilla, the proposed P1.6 billion road project is expected to be funded through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Padilla said the proposed project primarily aims to open an alternate route to Alfonso Castañeda town without going through the usual route along the national highway that needs to traverse the province of Nueva Ecija in the south or Aurora province in the north.
He said the alternate road project will start from Barangay Oyao in Dupax de Norte town and will end at Barangay Marikit in Pantabangan town, Nueva Ecija.
“This will reduce travel time and improve access of our villagers to our lowland towns, especially Bayombong, the seat of the provincial local government and educational center,” Padilla said.
He said DPWH Regional Director Loreta Malaluan including other regional executives of national government agencies gave support to the proposed alternate project since it will not only benefit Nueva Vizcaya but also the Aurora and Nueva Ecija provinces.
Padilla noted that once approved by the RDC, the proposed project will undergo a feasibility study which will pave the way for its funding under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) or the annual budget of the national government.
