QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (September 16, 2023)—At least six community relations staff from FCF Minerals Corporation have participated in the three-day Training on Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) for Social Development Projects at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman.
The training was conducted by the Research and Extension for Development Office (REDO) of the College of Social Work and Community Development of UP Diliman as part of their public service training program for development practitioners.
According to Lorne Harvey, FCF Minerals general manager for operations, their community relations staff joined a total of 31 participants from government agencies, non-government organizations, and private institutions during the training at the Bulwagang Tandang Sora, UP Diliman Campus from September 13 to 15, 2023.
“The purpose of the learning event is to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants in developing appropriate participatory monitoring and evaluation systems with a focus on the use of performance indicators, data collection methods and analysis for their respective community programs and projects,” Harvey said.
He said the FCF Community Relations team’s participation was part of their practicum and were able to prepare an indicative or prototype PME design for the company’s Social Development and Management Program or SDMP utilizing a participatory development perspective (PDC).
He explained that the PDC is an innovative approach that can lead to greater participation of the host and neighboring communities especially their marginalized sectors in monitoring and evaluation to ensure greater impacts of their SDMP.
