QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (October 1)—With positive results, the Multi-Partite Monitoring Team (MMT) conducted its third quarter (Q3) field validation at FCF Minerals Corporation’s Runruno Gold Projects on September 19–23, 2023.
Lorne Harvey, FCF Minerals Corporation general manager for operations, the MMT’s field validation resulted positively as they were able to document the company’s ongoing efforts to maximize resource efficiency, increase environmental protection, reduce ecological impact, and enhance social and community development initiatives.
The MMT is composed of 10 members from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Region 2, Environmental Management Bureau in Region 2, Barangay Local Government Unit of Runruno, Municipal Local Government Unit of Quezon through the Environment and Natural Resources Office, Provincial Local Government Unit of Nueva Vizcaya through the Environment and Natural Resources Office, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office in Nueva Vizcaya, Diocesan Social Action Commission, Dumaliguia Irrigators Association, and Sanggir ti Marigrigat.
Harvey said areas validated include surface mine, residual storage impoundment or RSI, process plant operations or PPO, mine rehabilitation areas, reforestation sites and community development projects.
He said the team also visited the company’s water and effluent sampling at upstream and downstream water sampling stations with good results.
Harvey also explained that the MMT field validation is carried out every quarter in order to track FCF’s mining and processing operations, environmental protection efforts, and social development initiatives.
