TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (August 2)—The Department of Health (DOH) in Region 2 has confirmed two additional cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that are counted for National Capital Region (NCR) data.

The first of the cases is a 26-year-old male from Abulug town. He experienced colds and loss of sense of taste since July 15. A specimen sample was collected from him on July 24 at St Luke’s Medical Center. He traveled in the province on July 31 but the result of his swab test was only released yesterday. He is now at the quarantine facility of the local government unit (LGU).

The second case is a 23-year-old female from Gonzaga town. His specimen sample was tested at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine on July 27. He traveled last July 30 in the province, but the result of his laboratory test was only released yesterday. He is now at the LGU isolation facility.

Guzman said though both are now in Cagayan, their specimen samples were collected, tested and their case codes were listed in NCR.

He said contact tracing is now also conducted both by NCR and Region 2 concerned officials to determine possible close contacts of the said cases.

Of these, there are now 329 total confirmed in the region in which 320 are the actual cases of Cagayan Valley while nine for NCR. PIA
