ISABELA (July 1)—The Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) led the groundbreaking for the National Dairy Cattle Breeding and Artificial Insemination Center (NDCBAIC) at Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague town on Monday, June 27.

During the event, DA Region 2 Executive Director Narciso Edillo was joined by Agriculture Undersecretary for Livestock William Medrano representing Secretary William Dar; Dr. Farrel Benjelix Magtoto, administrator of the National Dairy Authority; Dr. Richmar Aquino, ISU president; and other officials.

Edillo said the NDCBAIC will be constructed at the ISU Echague Compound amounting to P12 million.

He noted that the DA Region 2 is providing the needed technical assistance to farmers in dairy production and artificial insemination as a support to the development of the dairy industry in Cagayan Valley.

Meanwhile, Medrano said the DA had already crafted the National Dairy Roadmap as the basis of the Marcos administration in the implementation of strategies to improve the country’s 1.6 percent sufficiency level of dairy.
