FCF Minerals joins forest day celebration

QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (April 1)—The London-based FCF Minerals Corporation joined the celebration of the International Day of Forests 2022 to raise awareness of the importance of forests that people depend on.

James Carmichael, FCF Minerals Corporation country manager, explained that the International Day of Forests is a global observance being held annually on the 21st day of March to raise awareness on the importance of forests to people and their vital role in poverty eradication, environmental sustainability, and food security.

“People directly depend on forests for food, shelter, energy, medicines and income,” Carmichael said.

He noted that through a display exhibit and audiovisual presentation on March 21-31, 2022, at the Runruno Gold-Molybdenum Project Site in Barangay Runruno, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya, the company joined this international celebration.

Carmichael also noted that with the theme “Inspire for the Future – The Role of Forests in Ensuring Sustainable Production and Consumption,” the activity aims to raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests.

The company’s Mine Rehabilitation Section of Mine Environmental Protection and Enhancement Office spearheaded the said event, he added.
