QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (September 5)—A London-based mining firm turned various items to help four barangay (villages) as beneficiaries of the firm’s Social Development Management Program (SDMP).
James Carmichael, FCF Minerals Corp. country manager, the company through its community relations office and assigned focal persons turned over various items to its SDMP beneficiaries in the municipality.
Carmichael said these items include desktops, printers, school supplies, sound system equipment and fruit-bearing seedlings turned over to the Runruno’s neighboring communities of Aurora, Nalubbunan, Baresbes and Maddiangat villages.
Host community refers to the people living in the village outside the FCF Minerals mine camp, where the mining project is located, and neighboring communities refer to the people living in the villages which are adjacent to the host community, among others.
Carmichael also explained that the SDMP is the comprehensive plan of the company authorized to conduct actual mining and milling operations towards the sustained improvement in the living standards of the host and neighboring communities.
According to him, this is done by creating responsible, self-reliant and resource-based communities capable of developing, implementing and managing community development programs, projects, and activities in a manner consistent with the principle of people empowerment.
The items were received by the Barangay Local Government Unit officials of the four barangays and funded under the 2022 annual SDMP last August.
