British firm gives P500-K lab equipment to NVizcaya schools

QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (March 3)—A British mining company here has donated P552,531 worth of laboratory equipment to two state-run schools in the towns of Dupax del Norte and Villaverde in this province.

James Carmichael, FCF Minerals Corporation country manager, said Lamo National High School (LNHS) in Dupax Del Norte and Bintawan National High School (BNHS) in Villaverde were the schools the mine has extended help in terms of state-of-the-art laboratory equipment.

Carmichael said the laboratory equipment donated include digital scale ohaus scout SKX balance 2000g, wireless Ph sensor, wireless temperature sensor, 20 packs plotting compass, wireless motion sensor, field mapper kit, solenoids, wireless light sensor, microscope, mini generator, wireless force acceleration sensor, PASPORT salinity sensor, DM-2820, heater stirrer and PASCO smart cart red.

The laboratory equipment project was funded under the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) of the company.
He said it is time these schools upgraded their laboratories with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics academic strand in the province.

“We continue to help agencies and organizations in the province that need our assistance in line with our SDMP’s objectives. These assistances are geared towards helping various stakeholders in the province of Nueva Vizcaya,” Carmichael said.

FCF Minerals operates the Runruno Gold-Molybdenum Project which is located around 300 kilometers north of Manila.

The national government entered into a Financial and Technical Assistance Agreement (FTAA) with the mining firm for an initial term of 25 years.
