Fisherman found dead in Cagayan

GONZAGA, Cagayan (February 28)—A fisherman was found dead reportedly due to drowning when he fell from his boat while fishing out in the sea in this coastal town.

This, according to this town’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) released on Sunday.

Rescue personnel in this town has identified the victim as Ronel Tolentino, a resident of Barangay Santa Cruz here.
Officials of the MDRRMO said Tolentino went fishing early morning of February 24, 2022 when he fell from his boat due to strong waves.

Officials said Tolentino suddenly fell from the boat while it was still dark which made it difficult for other fishermen to rescue him.

Tolentino’s family sought assistance from the MDRRMO and the Philippine Coast Guard and it took two days for the rescuers to find Tolentino’s body.

The victim’s body was already turned over to the immediate family.
