TUGUEGARAO CITY (December 1)—The Cagayan State University (CSU) has conducted its first-ever graduation rites in the United States of America (USA).

In a social media post, CSU President Urdujah Alvarado said CSU conducted its first Offshore Academic Convocation at Greenbelt in the State of Maryland, USA.

CSU’s first-ever Offshore Academic Convocation was held on Nov. 19, 2022, with the theme, “Sustaining CSU High Quality Education by Leveraging Technology for Education 4.0.”

Alvarado said the graduation rites conferred titles to 63 graduates who were engaged in flexible learning by the CSU Graduate School and who were able to successfully finish their requirements digitally.

She said the graduates came from different states in the US which included Maryland, Virginia, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, California and New York.

Alvarado was joined during the graduation ceremony by CSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Mariden Cauilan, CSU-Andrews Campus Executive Officer Theresa Dimalanta, Campus Executive Officer Rodel Alegado and CSU-Andrews Campus Graduate School Dean Julius Capili.

They flew to the USA to hand over the titles of the graduates and congratulate them for their feat, she said.

According to Alvarado, the international programs were opened in 2019 as an internationalization effort of CSU “to provide quality education and to cater to more learners, no matter where they are in the world.”
