Army, govt agencies hold leadership summit for youth, kids

KIANGAN, Ifugao (March 26, 2023)—Some 120 children and youth from the different barangays (villages) of Tinoc town in this province attended a three-day Children and Youth Leadership Summit from March 24 to 26, 2023 at the Evacuation Center in the Sitio (sub-village) of Mugao, Impugong village here.  

The summit was a collaborative effort of the 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion under the 5th Infantry Division, the local government unit here and various government and non-governmental agencies. 

These agencies are the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police (14th Special Action Battalion, Tinoc Municipal Police Station and Ifugao Police Provincial Office), Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Write Your Legacy Book Writing.,

The summit interactive activities include discussion on values education, mental health awareness, role of youth in the community and church, anti-Bastos law, anti-rape law, crime updates, anti-illegal drugs, climate change, and cultural preservations and sensitivity.

Other activities include practical exercises and lectures regarding fire prevention and earthquake drill, team building activity, cultural night that showcased the talents of the participants, prayer service and spiritual enhancement, slogan competition, guidon making, and peace walk.

Lt. Col. Emmanuel Diasen Jr., 54IB Battalion commander, said the activity is vital to the children especially the youth as it would enhance their skills, knowledge and confidence to realize their full potentials and soon become successful and responsible leaders in their respective communities who were guided with moral standards. 

“I would like also to congratulate the whole team who willfully give their time, efforts, assets and skills for the realization of the activity, for it could not be an avenue of joy and learning without your support,” Diasen said.
