Lantion orders mandatory swabbing for market vendors

BY BENJAMIN MOSES M. EBREO

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (September 17)—Mayor Ralph Lantion here has ordered a mandatory coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) swabbing for all vendors of this town’s public market as part of its efforts to prevent and contain the transmission of the virus.

On Wednesday, Lantion issued Executive Order No. 34 Series of 2020 also ordering a five-day closure of the public market to pave the way for the swabbing among vendors.

“There is a rising Covid-19 case in the municipality and a considerable number of those infected are market vendors. Precautionary measures therefore must be done to prevent the spread of the disease,” he said.

The temporary closure of the public market will be on September 18-22 and vendors will only be allowed to sell inside the public market after securing clearance from the Municipal Health Office (MHO).

Bayombong is one of the Covid-19 affected towns in the province due to community transmission.

The Department of Health in coordination with the MHO recently conducted free aggressive swabbing among its villagers as a proactive measure to contain and stop the spread of Covid-19 in the municipality.
