BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya: The lone congressional district of Nueva Vizcaya brought home on Friday the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) job generation program providing a total of P3.19 million payout to displaced workers due to the pandemic and typhoons that hit the province in 2020.

Rep. Luisa Lloren Cuaresma of this province said they were able to reach out to 580 individuals who are from poor villages in this town and who have lost their jobs as a result of government measures in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“Many of these villagers, ambulant vendors, tricycle drivers, among others, have been severely affected by the pandemic and disasters like flooding and landslides as a result of a series of typhoons that struck the province in 2020,” Cuaresma said.

The distribution of the wage payout under the Tulong Pang Hanap Buhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (Tupad) was witnessed led by DoLE Secretary Sylvestre “Bebot” Bello 3rd and with Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur “Art” Tugade at the Nueva Vizcaya State University Bambang Campus.

Required to strictly comply with minimum health protocols, each beneficiary received P5,500 which they can use to start a livelihood. Tupad is one of DoLE’s programs to employ displaced individuals and families.

Bello explained that beneficiaries of the Dole Tupad program have been tapped in tree planting, clearing and dredging of canals and maintaining the cleanliness among others in their respective communities with additional incentives.
