BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (May 5)—The local government unit here in partnership with the Department of Agriculture (DA) recently distributed free tilapia fingerlings and rice seeds to farmers.
Mayor Pepito Balgos said the assistance by the DA was timely considering that the farmers in the municipality have been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“They have been suffering a lot due to the adverse effect of the Covid-19 in our agriculture, trade, commerce and industry. These helps will enable them to cope with the hard times brought by the pandemic,” he said.
Balgos also said the free tilapia fingerlings and rice seeds, sourced from the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund or RCEF of the DA will benefit the farmers.
He also assured the farmers in the municipality of their intensified efforts in sourcing out funds for their assistance in this time of the pandemic.
Balgos said farmers are always on top of the priority of the local government here in harnessing its resources and external assistance to help them and their families rise from the pandemic.
