BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (May 4)—The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in this province is now on a downtrend, according to health officials here.

Dr. Edwin Galapon, provincial health officer, said that as of May 2, there were 342 active Covid-19 cases based on RT-PCR results with 16 new confirmed cases.

He said the province also recorded a total of 2,563 confirmed Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic last year that peaked for the past nine weeks since March 1 this year and posted Nueva Vizcaya’s positivity rate at 16.47 percent.

“The peak of our high cases were recorded within the April 5-11 period where 660 Covid-19 cases were recorded but there is now a downtrend of our cases,” Galapon said.

Governor Carlos Padilla yesterday met with key provincial government officials to map out plans in preparation for the worst-case scenario of Covid-19 in the province.
