DPWH starts P41.66-M Paitan flood control project

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (June 8)— The Department of Public Works and Highways – Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineering Office (DPWH-NVFDEO) has recently started the construction of the PP41.66 million Flood Control Project in Barangay Paitan here.

The project is being implemented along with the Magat River Paitan Section, connecting to the existing flood control structure.

Marifel Andes, DPWH First District Engineering Office District Engineer, said the project aims to strengthen the defense of residential houses, rice fields, and other agricultural lands with the swelling of the Magat River.

She said project works include the construction of Rubble Concrete with embankment, gabions, mattresses and anchorage at both ends.

“The P41.66-million flood control started on February 18, 2022 and is expected to be completed in November this year,” Andes said.

She said barangay officials, farmers, and residents of Barangay Paitan have expressed their gratitude to the DPWH for the project which will serve as their defense against flooding.
