ALS students complete basic computer course in Quezon town

QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (September 13)—Some 28 students under the Alternative Learning System (ALS) E-Learning Program received their certificates of completion at the Rurnuno Community Learning Center on September 2, 2022.

James Carmichael, FCF Minerals Corp. country manager, said the 28 students completed their Level of Proficiency of Basic Computer Literacy Course.

The course includes Level 1 which is Introduction to Computer; Level 2 – MS Paint and Basic Keyboarding; Level 3 – MS Word; Level – MS PowerPoint; Level 5 – MS Excel; Level 6 – MS Publisher/Movie Maker/Photoshop; and Level 7 – Web Programming.

Carmichael said six completers were recognized for their excellence and for reaching higher levels of proficiency and given tokens as awards.

The event was attended by Barangay Council member Grace Damaso, Education Committee Chairman; Council member Nida Basilio, Education Committee Vice Chairman; Agnes Rosales, FCF Community Relations Manager; and Junita Bayaona, E-Learning Literacy Facilitator.

Rosales said this partnership among FCF Minerals Corporation, the Department of Education, and the Barangay Local Government Unit of Runruno in the implementation of ALS program is in support of the educational activity of the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).

ALS is a parallel learning system in the Philippines that provides opportunities for out-of-school youth and adult or OSYA learners to develop basic and functional literacy skills, and to access equivalent pathways to complete basic education.
