BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (September 11, 2023)—The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started the construction of two road projects in Diadi town to boost its economic growth.

Engr. Marifel Andes, DPWH First District chief, said the two road projects are the concreting of Barangay Villa Florentino to Villa Aurora (VFVA) and the barangay Escoting-Pinya-Langka (EPL) road projects.

Andes said the VFVA road project, funded with P12 million through the Department of Agriculture involves constructing a 0.6422-kilometer long, 6.10-meter wide concrete road with a 1.00-meter-wide shoulder for emergency traffic and to reduce traffic accidents when traffic volumes are high.

She said additional reinforced concrete culverts, catch basins and protective structures will ensure better drainage and durability of the project which aims to create a safer and more enduring road for the community.

She said the EPL road project, on the other hand, funded with P5 million seeks to improve the existing road by using strong concrete for a 0.19 km long and 5.00 meter wide pavement.

Andes said the project will also have a 1.5 meter-wide and 150 millimeter thick shoulder and a sturdy pipe for water drainage including stone walls and concrete protection for the slopes, making the road more durable and long-lasting.

“These road projects will open up opportunities for economic growth and development, as it facilitates the transportation of agricultural produce and goods to markets, reducing transportation costs and increasing accessibility to trade opportunities,” she said.
