BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (August 19)—More than 1,000 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) have returned home to the province, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMC).
Robert Corpuz, Nueva Vizcaya PDRRMO chief, said the provincial government has already brought home a total of 1,068 LSIs in the 15 municipalities of the province during the recent Provincial Covid-19 Task Force meeting at the Pasalubong Center in this town.
Corpuz said the LSIs were brought home through the provincial government’s OPLAN Awid Kontra Covid which started during the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak in the country in mid -March.
According to Corpuz, there are 894 LSIs ferried through the provincial government program, 795 were inbound for Nueva Vizcaya while 99 were outbound from the province, he added.
“The number of our travels made in partnership with private van operators since the start of the program in May this year was at 135,” he said.
There were 927 medical clearance certificates reviewed by the PDRRMO under the program while 601 returning overseas Filipino workers were ferried through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
“Under the OPLAN Awid Kontra Covid program of the provincial government, we are still waiting for possible remaining LSIs who may wish to avail of the program,” Corpuz said.
