CAGAYAN (December 8)—In response to the need for a higher education institution at the heart of the Calayan Island off Cagayan province waters, the Cagayan State University (CSU) has opened and launched its university extension in Magsidel, Calayan town.
CSU President Urdujah Alvarado said the launching of the university extension at the Calayan Manpower Development Center on December 5, 2022, in Calayan Island town was “to continue the cause of higher education for all Cagayano youth.”
Alvarado said the CSU Sanchez Mira together with the local government unit of Calayan conducted the opening and launching of the CSU Sanchez Mira Calayan Extension Campus “in response to the need for a higher education institution at the very heart of the Calayan Island.”
She said the programs that will be offered at the university extension are Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
College of Agriculture faculty Rex Dullit has been assigned as superintendent.
Dullit will man the campus and see to it that the face-to-face classes are effectively implemented, Alvarado said.
Alvarado said the CSU Sanchez Mira Extension Campus faculty will be composed of teachers and part-timers from CSU-Sanchez Mira.
She said teachers of Calayan High School will serve as part-timers to assure that all courses are covered.
During the launching of the university extension, Dr. Allan De La Cruz, CSU Sanchez Mira academic coordinator Dr, Allan De La Cruz represented the CSU president who was on official travel.
