TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (April 22)—Governor Manuel Mamba has urged all barangay officials in the province of Cagayan to establish their respective community isolation facilities to accommodate positive cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Mamba said that the barangays which have established their isolation facilities earlier should also strengthen and expand further their facilities to accommodate more of those who tested positive and help avoid the imposition of home quarantines amid the spike in Covid-19 cases.

“Let us help one another. There should be no home quarantines because this is the reason why we have an increasing number of positive cases,” Mamba stated.

He also reminded the barangays that the provincial government has distributed funds for the establishment of their respective quarantine facilities last year.

Mamba also urged officials and the people in areas with high Covid-19 cases, especially this city, to exert more effort to lower the cases to a manageable level.

He also advised LGUs to explore the possibility of converting some school buildings into isolation units where all those who are under home isolation can be transferred.

Mamba also said that barangay volunteers, such as health workers, nutrition scholars and the like can be capacitated to manage the operation of the isolation facilities, considering that the current number of frontline healthcare workers is not enough to manage all isolation efforts in the barangays.
