Lantion cautions Bayombong town officials causing delay in telco installations

BY LEANDER C. DOMINGO

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—Mayor Ralph Lantion here has warned officials and employees who may have been causing the delay in the installation activities of telecommunication companies in this town.

“Officials and employees who are hampering [tower] installation may be held administratively liable,” Lantion said

This after President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ordered telecommunication companies to shape up until the end of this year.

In his recent State of the Nation Address, Duterte has called on telecommunication companies to improve their services until December this year for the welfare of Filipinos.

Lantion has also issued an advisory that telecommunications requests at the Sangguniang Bayan (Municipal Council) as well as in the barangay (village) level for the installation of towers within their jurisdiction are no longer required.

He said approval of pending requests is no longer needed.
Lantion explained the advisory is pursuant to the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) issued by the Department of Information and Communications Technology in coordination with the Anti-Red Tape Authority, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, Department of Transportation, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Department of Health and the Food and Drug Administration.

He said the JMC stipulates the streamlining of the requirements and reduce procedural delays in securing the necessary permits, licenses, clearances, certificates, and other requirements in the construction of Shared Passive Telecommunications Tower Infrastructures.
