QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (August 21)—Rice and corn farmers here are in elation after receiving farm machineries and water pumps from the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Mayor Dolores Binwag said the DA Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) recently gave water pumps and their accessories to five groups of corn farmers in the municipality.

She said the water pumps have long been needed by the corn farmers to improve their productivity of corn harvest as one of the major agricultural products of the town.

Binwag added that the DA-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) also gave farm machineries to their town’s rice farmers.

The farm machineries were distributed to the farmers’ associations such as the Agricultural Producers of Quezon with one combine harvester, Upper Maasin Irrigators Association with one hand tractor with complete accessories, San Juan Irrigators Association with one floating tiller and one rotavator each for the Lintungan Dililipig Irrigators Association and Nalubbunan barangay local unit.

“We are grateful enough for this assistance for our farmers. These are steps to guide our farmers towards agricultural modernization to increase and improve their productivity,” Binwag said.
