BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (April 21)—The Department of Public Works and Highways ( DPWH) has started the improvement of a road in Santa Fe town to boost its coffee industry and help its farmers.

Engineer Glen Miguel, DPWH 2nd district chief, said they have started the construction of an access road at Balete Road connecting Dalacquit and Sinapaoan to the national highway to open up coffee trade and industry in these areas.

He said the project involves the construction of 1.074 lane-kilometer by 3.05 width, 0.23-meter thickness of PCC Pavement carriageway and 1006.80 lane-meter curb and gutter with slope protection structures and road safety devices.

“This project is in support of the local government unit of Santa Fe’s One Town One Product or OTOP Program particularly its thriving coffee industry,” Miguel said.

He said in rural areas like barangays Dalacquit and Sinapaon, the construction of access road is a significant provision for a better road network resulting in higher availability of raw materials such as coffee beans to the agricultural trade centers.

Miguel added that the project, funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2021 which was started in December last year will also provide employment opportunities and increasing access to social amenities.
