Councilor dies as SUV falls from bridge

SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya (June 11)—A municipal councilor was killed after the sports utility vehicle (SUV) he was driving fell from a bridge in the upland town of Kasibu in this province on Friday morning, June 10.

The Kasibu Municipal Police Station identified the fatality as engineer Alfredo “Samo” Tucpi 2nd, 49, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan in Kasibu and a resident of Barangay Poblacion in the said town.

Based on the initial police investigation, the victim was on his way home when his Toyota Fortuner bearing registered plate UNQ 901 accidentally fell from a bridge in Barangay Bua in Kasibu around 12:30 a.m.

According to the police report, the victim’s vehicle fell and turned turtle when it landed in the river, which caused water to enter the SUV.

The victim was rushed to the Kasibu Municipal Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Jerameel Bahni.

Tucpi was reelected for his third and final term as municipal councilor of Kasibu in the May 9 elections.
