MGB temporarily suspends Woggle Corp exploration activities in Nueva Vizcaya

THE Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has ordered the temporary suspension of Woggle Corporation’s exploration activities in Barangay Bitnong, Dupax del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya.

The suspension order, dated February 5, 2026, cites a force majeure situation due to sustained community opposition and the presence of barricades and blockades, which pose peace-and-order and safety risks.

The MGB emphasizes that the suspension is temporary and does not cancel the Exploration Permit No. EP000030II issued to Woggle Corporation.

Despite the work stoppage, the company remains responsible for mitigating and rehabilitating any disturbed areas, as outlined in its approved Environmental Work Program.

The suspension will remain in effect until the conditions cited in the force majeure declaration are resolved, and safe access and operations can resume, subject to MGB evaluation and formal clearance.

This development follows months of tension between Woggle Corporation and anti-mining groups and individuals, who have expressed concerns about the environmental impact of the mining exploration.

In August 2025, the DENR-MGB granted Woggle Corporation an exploration license for more than 3,000 hectares in Dupax del Norte, targeting gold and copper deposits.

However, anti-mining advocates, including politicians, have opposed the project.
