TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (April 9)—At least 6,000 2nd doses of the second batch of Sinovac’s Coronavac vaccines arrived today at the Tuguegagrao City Airport.

Domingo Lavadia, DOH Region 2 Law Enforcement Division, said the set of additional doses is already the fourth delivery to the region, but is actually the second doses of the second batch of vaccines allotted for heathcare workers of Region 2.

“These vaccines are still intended for the A1 priority or the healthcare frontliners who are directly involved in the management of Covid-19 confirmed cases. We need to finish the targeted number of healthcare workers who belong to the first priority line before we move to other priority groups,” Lavadia said.

He said there will be more vaccines to be delivered for the region in the next days intended for the continued vaccination of the targeted populace willing to be inoculated to help attain the herd immunity versus the Covid-19 virus.

The vaccines were immediately disinfected upon arrival at the airport and were brought to the DOH cold chain facility for storage in the region.

According to DOH officials, the vaccines were already scheduled for delivery to target facilities starting today.

The receiving facilities include identified temporary treatment and management facilities, rural health units and hospitals that were not included in the first batch of deliveries.

Earlier, Vaccination Focal Person Joyce Maquera said that there are 59,208 healthcare workers who belong to the A1 priority in Region 2, of which there were already 21,238 vaccinated or 35.87 percent vaccination coverage for the entire region.
