THE Cagayan State University (CSU) has awarded Department of Science and Technology (DoST) Undersecretary Sancho Mabborang an honorary degree in public administration in recognition of his exemplary leadership in government service.

According to CSU President Dr. Urdujah Alvarado, the Doctor of Public Administration-Honoris Causa conferred on Mabborang was in recognition of his exemplary leadership as the regional director of DoST in Region 2 and his outstanding public service as undersecretary of the same department.

“The award is also in acknowledgment of his contribution to the advancement of research, development and extension, and technology transfer at the Cagayan State University,” Alvarado added.

The honorary degree was awarded during the 45th Commencement Rites of the Graduate School of CSU-Carig Campus held at the Red Eagle Gymnasium on July 22, 2023.

During the event, Mabborang delivered a message recognizing CSU as an important partner of DoST Region 2 in promoting science, technology, and innovation in the region. He also cited some of the implemented research and development (R&D) projects of DoST Region 2 in partnership with CSU.

These were the Niche Center or Nicer for R&D in the region which houses the Electromobility Research and Development Center or eMRDC, the Balik Scientist Program that successfully produced the SunBerry Food Suplement through CSU’s senior scientist Prof. Maria Nilda Munoz, and the Business Incubation Zone for Novel and Sustainable Technology Enterprises or BizNEST.

In his message, he also reminded the graduates to Build – which means believe in their dreams, unite with others, improve their skills and abilities, love their family and others, and dedicate their abilities, skills and talents to their dreams.
