Runruno village gets new building from British firm

QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (January 1)—A newly-constructed building was turned over to the Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) officials of Runruno here by a London-based mining firm that operates within the village.

James Carmichael, FCF Minerals Corporation country manager, said the more than P17.48 million worth two-story barangay hall building with a roof deck will house the barangay local government unit council and administration.

“The construction of the facility which was made possible through a funding from the 2020 and 2021 Annual Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) started on August 2021 and was completed on November 17 of the same year,” Carmichael said.

With a local minister, Pastor Gem Lalaan of the Runruno Fundamental Baptist Church leading the blessing of the said building on December 10, 2021, a symbolic key was also turned over by Carmichael to Runruno village chief John Babli-ing and the barangay council.

During the turnover, the Runruno BLGU council also signified their acceptance of the responsibility and accountability in the operations and future developments of the barangay hall.

Babli-ing said the two-story barangay hall building was constructed purposely to serve as the official Runruno BLGU center.

“It was a Christmas and New Year’s gift for the people of Runruno as we have been dreaming of this project. Now it is completed and we now have the responsibility to take good care of it,” he said.

Also during the turnover, winners of the Solid Waste Management Program contest were awarded, there was also gift-giving to the elderlies and persons with disabilities, and raffle draws for the vaccinated residents of Runruno.

Joining the turn-over activity were Provincial Board Member Eunice Gambol who represented Gov. Carlos Padilla and officials of the Municipal Local Government Unit of this town headed by Mayor Dolores Binwag and Vice Mayor Virgilio Savedra.

SDMP Technical Working Group headed by their chairman Rogelio Cacayan, Department of Education District In-charge Rubylyn Gajo and teaching staff of all the elementary and high schools in Runruno village with their respective principals, among others also joined the affair. LCD
