QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (August 19, 2023)—The FCF Minerals Corporation-supported Basic Literacy Program (BLP) and E-Learning Program (ELP) recognized 101 completers during the Completion Program 2023 at the Barangay Multi-Purpose Hall in Runruno here on August 18, 2023.
Lorne Harvey, FCF Minerals general manager for operation, said there were 52 BLP completers and 51 ELP completers who received their certificates of recognition.
Harvey said both the BLP and ELP initiatives received support from the Social and Development Management Program or SDMP of FCF Minerals in partnership with the local government unit of Runruno and the Department of Education – Alternative Learning System (ALS) program.
During the event, Zhairida Guillao, an ALS passer in 2019 who served as the guest speaker during the program, highlighted the importance of education as a powerful tool in overcoming poverty and oppression.
Guillao also emphasized that education equips individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to break free from the chains of ignorance.
The BLP and ELP programs opening for this year also took place during the event and kicked off with the selection process of interested enrollees. The program will commence on August 29, 2023.
Meanwhile, some 30 ALS passers from Barangay Runruno joined the mass graduation and received their certificates of completion during the clustered ALS ceremony at the Nueva Vizcaya Convention Center, Capitol Compound in Bayombong town on August 15, 2023.
During the ceremony, Engr. Joanne Padua, FCF Minerals Social Development supervisor of the Community Relations Office, endorsed the passers on behalf of the company.
