BACCAY TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (August 5)—The Department of Health (DOH) in Region 2 has confirmed 15 additional cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the Cagayan Valley region. DOH Regional Director Rio Magpantay said eight of the cases are from Cagayan, six from Isabela and one from Nueva Vizcaya. These include CV 357 who is a 54-year-old male from this city who doesn't have any travel history and exposure to any positive case. He is an employee of DOH-Region 2 and now at the quarantine facility of the said regional office. KAHULUGAN TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (August 4)—The Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) here on Monday inaugurated its molecular laboratory for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) testing that will augment and expand the testing capacity of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila. Dr. Glenn Matthew Baggao, CVMC chief, said the hospital’s Covid testing center has a newly constructed building with three Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) machines for its operation. Llexter Guzman, DOH Region 2 health education and promotions officer, said the newly tested individuals are both locally stranded individuals who were tested in NCR before they traveled home to their respective towns in the province. The first of the cases is a 26-year-old male from Abulug town. He experienced colds and loss of sense of taste since July 15. A specimen sample was collected from him on July 24 at St Luke's Medical Center. He traveled in the province on July 31 but the result of his swab test was only released yesterday.
