QUEZON, Nueva Vizcaya (September 1, 2023)—A total of 171 individuals have enrolled for the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program for the class opening on August 29, 2023, according to the London-based FCF Minerals Corp.

FCF Minerals is a government contractor of the Runruno Gold and Molybdenum Project under a financial or technical assistance agreement or FTAA with the Philippine government.

Lorne Harvey, FCF Minerals Corp. general manager for operations, said the company continues to partner with the Barangay Runruno Literacy Facilitators in conducting literacy mapping in the Sitio (sub-villages) of Barangay (village) in support of the educational program of the government.

Harvey said the mapping process, which commenced on August 19, 2023 aims to identify and assess the literacy level of individuals who wish to enroll in the ALS program.

“This way, we can ensure that each ALS enrollee receives the necessary resources and support to enhance their literacy skills,” he said.

Harvey added that by identifying the specific literacy levels of each learner, the facilitators can develop personalized strategies aimed at addressing gaps in reading, writing and numeracy.

“There were 56 individuals who enrolled for the Basic Literacy Program, 28 for ALS Elementary, 57 for ALS Junior High School, and 30 for the E-Learning Program,” he said.
