DOH confirms 2 new Covid-19 cases for NCR

BACCAY TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (August 2)—The Department of Health (DOH) in Region 2 has confirmed two additional cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) that are counted for National Capital Region (NCR) data. Llexter Guzman, DOH Region 2 health education and promotions officer, said the newly tested individuals are both locally stranded individuals who were tested in NCR before they traveled home to their respective towns in the province. The first of the cases is a 26-year-old male from Abulug town. He experienced colds and loss of sense of taste since July 15. Cagayan growers get bamboo starter kits

DOMINGO TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (August 1)—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) has distributed bamboo plant starter kits to residents of at least six localities in Cagayan province under the Pangkabuhayan sa pagBangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program. Bamboo growing is being promoted by various government agencies to also help address environmental issues. The plant produces oxygen and reduces carbon dioxide while providing raw materials for the manufacture of various products, thus reducing the need to cut down trees. DOMINGO BAGGAO, Cagayan (July 28)—At least six eagles were freed back to their natural habitat in Baggao town, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley). Frederic Tomas, this town’s municipal environment and natural resources officer (Menro), said there were three Crested serpent eagles (Spilornis cheela), two Brahminy kites (Haliastur indus) and a Philippine hawk-eagle (Nisaetus philippensis) that were finally released after they were declared healthy.
